It’s been about a year since tens of thousands of books were
burned in northern Arizona as part of a hate crime. Book burning, either as an act of censorship
or an act of protest against a person’s belief system, is not part of the
distant past. We are all often shocked
at the thought of books being burned for any reason and assume that those
actions are part of a dark past. Clearly
we are still living in these dark times.
What can we do as a society to prevent any future book
burnings from occurring?
